Grace=underserved gift

Romans 6:14

“For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under the law but under grace.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

“For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.”

Prayer:
Father, help me accept your grace, as simple as it sounds. Help me trust that what the Bible says is true: that I don’t have to do anything to gain your favor. Jesus already did it all!

1 John 1:8-10

“If we say, ‘We have no sin,’ we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say, ‘We have not sinned,’ we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

Prayer:
Father, I confess that I have sin {what you have done wrong today-not loving God or not loving your neighbor}. Cleanse me from this evil in my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 15: Christmas exists so we can have a new life

[If you have a printed Bible available, I recommend you read the passages directly from it. It’s a great way to teach our children to treasure it.]

Romans 6:8-11

“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him, because we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will not die again. Death no longer rules over him. For the death he died, he died to sin once for all time; but the life he lives, he lives to God. So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer:
Thank you Father for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, that by his death and resurrection I can have a new life. Thank you that I don’t have to do anything to earn it. You have done it all! In Jesus’ name, amen.

Isaiah 9:2

“The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
a light has dawned
on those living in the land of darkness.”

Jesus us the light

John 1:9-10a

“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him…”

You can come confidently to him and ask him to show you your sin, even the one you can’t see. You can be confident that if there is anything evil, if you repent, he will forgive you and make you free.

Prayer,
Heavenly Father, keep me far from the dark and evil things. Help me love what you love: all that is pure and righteous. In Jesus’ name, amen.

My soul praises the greatness of the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
because he has looked with favor
on the humble condition of his servant.
Surely, from now on all generations
will call me blessed,
because the Mighty One
has done great things for me,
and his name is holy.
His mercy is from generation to generation
on those who fear him…'”

Father, give me a heart like Mary’s that praises you for your good plans for our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Luke 1:30-32,38

“Then the angel told her: ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David… ‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ said Mary. ‘May it be done to me according to your word.’ Then the angel left her.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me be like Mary and submit to your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Day 11: Christmas exists because God has mercy for you

Psalm 136:23

“He remembered us in our humiliation
His faithful love endures forever

Hebrews 4:14-16

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.”

Jesus came to the world and lived a human life. He was tempted like us, but without sin. He understands our battles, He went through temptations similar to yours.

Prayer:
Thank you Father for sending Jesus. We can come confidently asking for your help, to fight against our own desires. Thank you for rescuing us and for erasing our sin. How incredible that you took our place and paid what we deserved to pay for our evil! We praise you and thank you forever!
