Christmas: Jesus was born…

  • Jesus was born
  • He died and was raised from the dead
  • He is in heaven preparing our eternal home
  • He is going to come back one day to take us with him

This is the Christmas hope: Jesus came and will come again. This time, to be with us forever.

John 14:1-6:

“…’Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.

In my Father’s house are many rooms; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also

You know the way to where I am going.’

‘Lord,’ Thomas said, ‘we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way?’

Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’.”

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for being born, living and dying on the cross to pay for my punishment. Thank you that by your sacrifice I can be made clean and adopted as a child of God.

Luke 1:30-32,38

“Then the angel told her: ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David… ‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ said Mary. ‘May it be done to me according to your word.’ Then the angel left her.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me be like Mary and submit to your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Psalm 136:23

“He remembered us in our humiliation
His faithful love endures forever

Hebrews 4:14-16

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.”

Jesus came to the world and lived a human life. He was tempted like us, but without sin. He understands our battles, He went through temptations similar to yours.

Prayer:
Thank you Father for sending Jesus. We can come confidently asking for your help, to fight against our own desires. Thank you for rescuing us and for erasing our sin. How incredible that you took our place and paid what we deserved to pay for our evil! We praise you and thank you forever!

Christmas was announced from the beginning . When the first humans, Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God told the serpent (Satan) that he would send a person, a deliverer (Jesus) to destroy the power of evil.

Genesis 3:14,15:

“The Lord God said to the serpent,

‘Because you have done this,
    cursed are you above all livestock
    and above all beasts of the field;
on your belly you shall go,
    and dust you shall eat
    all the days of your life.
I will put enmity between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
    and you shall bruise his heel.'”

(for a better understanding of this truth, read Genesis 3 from the beginning)

Prayer:
Thank you, God for fulfilling your promise of sending the deliverer of my soul. Thank you for freeing me from the slavery to sin. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Galatians 4:4,5:

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”

What a privilege it is to be able to be called child of God!

Prayer:
Thank you God that without deserving it you have adopted me and have made me yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.

John 1:1,2:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.”

Word=Jesus

Jesus made himself a human, with the same needs and weaknesses of a human body. But without sin.

This was not the beginning of Jesus, he has always existed.

Prayer:
Father, help us understand the truth of who is Jesus. Teach me to worship Him as he deserves.
